Watching doc about resilience that reaffirms many changes I made last few years to my mental outlook (I read a LOT of brain books). Brains are hallucination engines. If the story is the world is shit, everything is fucked, brain reframes every interaction this way. It impacts behavior; shuts us down

I've always been attracted to the intrigue of mundanity, but Father Mother Sister Brother is a really great reminder of just how neat it can be when put to work.

One thing I gotta say about No Other Choice is that Lee Byung-hun is absolutely incredible in it. he was good in Squid Game and all but WOW he does a great job at capturing the sort of happy-go-lucky yet fully bought into capital upper middle class type and his descent into (SPOILERS BELOW)

you’re already ahead. stay with it. minneapolis stripped these forces of legitimacy (a battle other cities won’t have to repeat). remember they are completely outmanned. their only real advantage is their organizational capacity. out-organize them & the illusion of control will collapse.
I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
The US Department of Agriculture suspends all federal funding to Minnesota, effective immediately.
