Imagine how fried-by-white-supremacist-over-online-bullshit your brain needs to be to think that Britain or France's immigration policy is a greater threat than the nuclear arsenals of actual geopolitical rivals like China, North Korea or Russia.
JD VANCE THINKS BRITAIN & FRANCE ARE AMERICAS LIKELY ENEMIES.
The world is getting bizarrely screwed with this kind of bull being spewed out.

people who are new to academia tend to find its obsession with sources and citations a brake on their "i'm just trying to be CREATIVE, man" mindset. but it turns out the relentless obsession with accuracy, citation, and *provenance* is a load-bearing pillar of the whole enterprise

I guess it’s a good thing we were so concerned about the right to speak our opinions being outlawed by a ruling class that we guaranteed it by making it the very first amendment in our Bill of Rights when we formed the country.

It really cements Charlie Kirk’s reputation as a hero of free speech when his followers threaten, doxx, and get people fired for not “mourning properly.”

(Actually, it underlines what a scam that “free speech” routine was in the first place.)

Charlie Kirk's allies warn Americans: Mourn him properly or else
After the fatal shooting of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk, U.S. Republicans have a warning for Americans: Mourn him respectfully or suffer the consequences.

Why?

In part, because the destruction of USAID has made it near impossible to distribute the food.

Calculations suggest that it could have fed every starving child in Gaza for a week.

And roughly a million dollars up in smoke — due to DOGE.
"Five months into its unprecedented dismantling of foreign-aid programs, the Trump administration has given the order to incinerate food instead of sending it to people who need it"

This is the sort of smoking gun connection between a decision and outcome that gets people fired in a normal government

this is, incidentally, what a lot of people dislike about country. it's just muzak about how country the singer is
think it has a lot to do with country music not having a lot of 'country' in it. the actual music is mostly soft rock or adult contemporary with a heavy pronounced twang

If you’re not white, or you have friends or loved ones who aren’t white, or you’re not a total sociopath and therefore care about fellow humans who aren’t white, you need to understand this regime thinks not being white is inherently suspect, and lots of your fellow Americans are fine with that.

TSA famously advertised for people on pizza boxes. Trump's new super-rich ICE is gonna advertise on Stormfront, Truck Nutz boxes, No Fat Chicks t-shirts, and ED medication websites.
Again to the point. Inside federal law enforcement ICE has always had a terrible rep. Place for people who can't get jobs at the more legit/disciplined federal policing agencies. High zeal to beat people up, low competence. Will get vastly worse hiring vast numbers under time pressure.
ICE is going to get someone killed.

This was outside 100 Montgomery in SF’s Financial District.

If you needed proof these rookie hires aren’t trained, here it is. Real feds de-escalate. They call for backup. They don’t drag people down the street w/a car.

Hope everyone’s OK.

The Supreme Court’s “shadow docket” has cast very different shadows depending on which party holds the White House.

When lower courts blocked Trump admin policies, SCOTUS intervened on an emergency basis to lift those orders in 77% of cases.

For the Biden administration, that number was 0%.

Senate Republicans are calling to cut Medicaid and CHIP by over $1 trillion, growing to an 18% cut by 2034.

This would be at least four times the size of the largest Medicaid cut in history.
