I was unexpectedly admitted to hospital on Sunday 5th October where I remained until my discharge this afternoon.

Post Dragon's Back Race my foot was still swollen and sore.

I was diagnosed with a DVT on Friday morning.

I've documented my experience in a blog.

Another fab morning with fellow @thegreenrunners.bsky.social Caren and Jon.

Only my third run since finishing Dragon's Back Race, and I felt the lack of fitness.

However, Bestwood Village parkrun is a fantastic course and I love nothing more than splashing through muddy puddles.

Heavy rain didn't dampen the mood at our Nottingham local meet-up this morning with Caren, Jon & Kev visiting Bestwood Village #parkrun. 🌳

Our trio travelled sustainably by foot, train & tram. #HowWeMove

They enjoyed a 5k run 🏃‍♀️ around the country park followed by a warming cuppa in the café. ☕️

Science suggests not. ❌

On my walk today I explored the new housing development being built on the former RAF Newton site.

I found the bronze memorial statue, which is based on a drawing my Wingman & Blue Dog posed for many years ago.

Matt likes to remind me every so often that him and Blue have their own statue.

Fascinating study of USA citizens’ understanding of climate change & communication.

We believe #HowWeSpeakOut matters.

65% say they “rarely” or “never” discuss global warming with family & friends, while 35% say they do so “occasionally” or “often.”

Yet the majority understand the science.

Another walk on the trails today. The farmer has harvested the sugar beet, and I found two more foil balloons littering the trail. Lovely in the sunshine before the storm arrives later.

On Monday I received a phone call inviting me to a CT scan.

This morning I got to the reception desk to be told my scan was cancelled. The radiologist explained that all scans have to be approved by a consultant radiologist, who this morning declined my scan as they believe it's not justified.

I've been for a short walk on my beloved trails this morning. The farmer has finished erecting the fence he started work on many months ago. I also found a foil balloon that I binned. I wanted to walk further, but my leg was grumbling, so I headed home for a cup of Yorkshire Gold.

In the UK it’s the time of year when we may need to pack a waterproof running jacket when heading out on a long run. 💦

We want our kit to have a long life but waterproof jackets are often not built to last.

What are your tips for getting the most from your jacket?
