Legit, GDQ gives me hope that someday, ideally when every fascist is beaten bloody and forced back under their rocks, many communities that were categorically toxic can be cleaned and there won't be any place for them to infest, because it just takes solid moderation, not capitulation.
The extent to which Games Done Quick has helped to steer the larger speedrunning community - one of the most hardcore video game enthusiast subcultures there is - into becoming something so welcoming, inclusive and supportive astonishes me
