How much more evidence is needed, I wonder, for UBI?
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants said they had housing.
Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

There was a time where twitter was actually good and even reliable for news, especially when it came to protests and movements. Both global and local. So many stories people wouldn't have seen on broadcast or in major outlets were able to be told. That's a huge loss.
Twitter has had a massive impact - for good and ill - on protests and political movements around the globe. Losing that is enormous.
I also can’t stop thinking about the impact it had for activists on the ground in Egypt ten years ago and the central role it played for the people rising up.

This remains the ideal country to raise children for many reasons.
While we’re banning books…

Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar.

Be. Like. Finland.

Hi friends!

I just wanted to give a quick update on The Onion’s purchase of InfoWars, which we can’t wait to relaunch as the dumbest website on the internet.

The long and short of it: We won the auction and — you're not going to believe this — the previous InfoWars folks aren't taking it well.

Hopefully the people who run this platform fully understand the many reasons why a mass exodus of people has fled toxic X, and will do their best to ensure this place never becomes anything like that.

Missed my Bluesky invite sent November 2023 🙆🏾‍♀️ and, with that, the opportunity to get the same handle I have across all my social media accounts. Oh well, new platform, new handle. I hear it’s better than Twitter (will never call it that other name). Looking forward to creating connections here!
