Craving an opera date where the CG taking me out dresses me up all pretty, tells me not to squirm on my seat, points out all the pretty pretty dresses, gives me diaper checks to make sure I make it through the whole thing, and strokes my hair after I fall asleep during act 2 or 3 🥹🥹👉🏻👈🏻👍🏻👌🏻🎼🎭

i really think there is legit political space for running on "we are going to dismantle ICE"
How it started vs. How it’s going NOW 👀

not just the safe streets project getting cut in this proposal, which is bad enough. It's the neighborhood infrastructure line item that safe streets got lumped into--this means stuff like sidewalk repairs and lighting. Even if your alder labels themselves as progressive--they need to get an earful
URGENT ACTION NEEDED:

Mayor Johnson's 2026 bond proposal defunds safe streets infrastructure by a whopping 70% – putting our communities in jeopardy by threatening the progress we've made in preventative infrastructure.

Email him and your alderperson today and tell them to reverse course!
Tell the city NO to 70% cuts to safe streets funding!

Whether Chicago takes on municipal-level responsibility for sidewalk plowing or not, why do they not plow their own sidewalks today?

This is the future Mayor Johnson and City Council are keeping from you. #PlowTheSidewalks
I know that many other cities don’t plow their sidewalks, leaving it up to property owners. This is completely crazy to me.

Our sidewalk plows look like this and they do a pretty good job.

#PlowTheSidewalks would pilot sidewalk snow plowing in Chicago and fix a century old burden unnecessarily placed on residents, and correct and unjust system that harms hundreds of thousands of residents. The pilot was killed over fake fears. Let’s remember who did this:

Just saw a mother with several small children and a stroller struggling to get through the snow.

If we were to #PlowTheSidewalks it would benefit everyone, no matter how they get around.

What if — hear me out — instead of hiring a person to only plow in front of a single business, we hired them to go down the entire block….and the next…and the next…

We could even have a small fleet to cover whole swaths of the city. #PlowTheSidewalks
But *how* will they #PlowTheSidewalks? With what technology?

Also consider not spreading your fucking contagious illnesses around. Flu, mono, Covid, whatever. Wash your hands, stay your ass at home, test regularly (for flu and covid), wear a mask if you’re ill, been exposed, or in places we all need to access like public transit and medical settings

Remember when city council didn’t pass the #plowthesidewalks pilot?

Isn’t it amazing how the city enabled this icy slide to develop on their property (a bridge), and it stops immediately at a private property’s sidewalk frontage?

surveillance is not safety, example ten trillion billion million zillion
"Although Mexico City’s video surveillance system is a tool to prevent and punish crimes, the city still registers the highest crime rate in the country, with 54,473 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants."
