I'm seeing designers make mistakes that we learned from decades ago because they aren't going through our history. Part of that is due to a lack of interest, the other part is just that there is no publicly available sources for some of this.
Getting tired of the repetition is all.

The macabre form of this functioning trombone is composed entirely of malformed bones that are fused together in disturbing and offputting ways. The bell is composed of a long since decomposed skull that seems to always be screaming. Despite its ghastly appearance, this piece is a fully functional musical instrument. This horn grants a +1 item bonus to Performance checks while playing music with it.

Activate-Doot Doot [2] (auditory, manipulate); Frequency Twice per day; Effect You play a short tune causing two illusory skeletal figures carrying similar instruments to emerge from the ground occupying your same space. The skeletons begin to dance around you and play an oddly upbeat melody for 1 minute. The skeletons move with you when you move.

Activate-Shivers Down Your Spine [R] (auditory); Requirements You have at least one illusory skeleton still dancing around you; Trigger A creature hits you with a melee Strike; Effect One of the skeletons jumps in front of the attack and shrieks loudly. The skeleton takes 15 points of the triggering Strike’s damage while you take the rest. The skeleton then crumbles into dust and disappears.

Balatro is the master of these multi phase maps, I have never seen any cartographer put so much effort into this kind of thing. Each one is a bottle dungeon waiting to happen, an epic set piece to end an adventure.
This set is no exception to this.
