A breathtaking view of N159, one of the largest star-forming cloud complexes in the LMC, a dwarf galaxy orbiting the Milky Way.

This image shows just a small part of the region; the full N159 complex spans more than 150 light-years from end to end.

The woman killed by ICE today was a poet. She won the 2020 Academy of American Poets, University & College Poetry Prize at Old Dominion University.

(And this is Renee from confirmed socials- a photo of a different woman with red lipstick is going around, but that was a classmate.)

The sheer number of videos of the shooting is horrific, but in the vein of what @prisonculture.bsky.social has been saying, it proves how many people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn't just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn't abandon her.

The solution most often used to handwave this (“Just vote the person out”) is also sufficient enough for most because Americans think this option is always available
in a hyperpartisan 2-party system, there's just almost never sufficient political motivation for a Member to impeach their party's President. politically, it's *all* downside for them. thus impeachment is inevitably unipartisan, which Americans (& political media especially) reflexively distrust.

If you were to ask most Americans, they would probably be surprised that removing an elected official is even an option. “You can do that? Then what’s the point of having power?”

Impeachment really should have been normalized a long, long time ago
My least muddled take is that presidential impeachment doesn't work. Too many people incorrectly see the president as a king-like figure with a four-year democratic mandate.

That idea mutated in 2021-2024, when MAGA and SCOTUS decided that you can't ever prosecute a president for crimes.
What's with all the qualifications? Would it not be seen as a coup if the replacement was a criminal? Or from a different party? Or elected on a different ticket?

Seems like your thinking on this subject is quite muddled.

I would like to thank the person who pointed out that Sorcerer wasn't added to D&D until year 2000, so I can now be annoyed three times per episode when they keep mentioning it in "Stranger Things 5".

Google is not “the internet.” It’s just a bad search engine getting worse
Seems like a basic failure that the internet refuses to tell you where a movie is streaming. Netflix is not streaming this movie!!

For about ten years I've thought about what a Tom Waits TV Christmas special produced in the early 80s would have been like. It's almost real to me. The set is a Depression-era shack he built and a stream of celebrity hobos keep knocking on the door and Tom goes "I wOnDEr WHo tHaT cOuLd bE"
