the nanofeathers around the eyes, tho
This is a more poorly lit eye, but it was physically closer, so i was more willing to risk a slower shutter speed(1/500) to get the ISO down(450).

Great opportunity when it was a captive audience! (drinking from a feeder) 🪶

16. Elfin saddle. (Yes I know, it'll be new year by the time I catch up, IDC.)

At some points I find myself wondering about our ancestors, & precisely which mushrooms they'd been eating when they decided this looked like a saddle. Because uhh... Ouch.

"I refuse." This is it. There's no reason we should accept a narrative of an already settled future which marginalizes humans and individual agency. No one wants this. No one asked for it.
"This promise of an AI future, is really just a collective anxiety that wealthy people have about how well they're gonna be able to control us in the future."

- @tressiemcphd.bsky.social with an absolute mic drop moment about AI bullshit.

Incredible words.

Decorations and wrapping for day 17 of #ChemAdvent!

Baubles were traditionally silvered using the reduction of silver nitrate with glucose - a chemical test used in classrooms to detect aldehydes.

Wrapping paper and tape are both cellulose-based 🎁

People support the idea. The issue is whether people will organize to make it happen. Hochul does not want to tax the rich and that's how universal childcare can happen.
"A new poll released by Siena University on Tuesday found that nearly two in three voters across the state favor the new benefit and would support Mr. Mamdani’s plan to pay for it by increasing taxes on those earning more than $1 million a year."

I found out this week that I'm being laid off from my design job at the end of the year. ☹️

My partner's got a job, we have savings, it's not dire.

But if you've ever wanted books or prints from me: sarahbecan.square.site

or shirts or totes: sarahbecan.threadless.com

...now is a great time. 🙂

No one is "personally responsible" for policy change. People can contribute greatly but we need to DEAD the idea that a single person is ever responsible. It's unhelpful and it's also not how change happens.
