Ok so @simonharrisireland.bsky.social accepts that the kidnapping by Israel of Irish people on flotillas heading to Gaza was illegal - what actions is he going to take to address this breach of international law? #speirgorm

Speaking in the Dáil today, Simon Harris said the activists were trying to do something about the "humanitarian catastrophe and genocide" in Gaza and that they posed "no threat".

He denounced their detention as illegal.

So Gone Gavin now issuing statements making the repayment of funds he has owed for 16 years - conditional on some quibbles he has with tenant's story in podcast - and no 'sorry' ? He should actually pay interest on the sum for last 16 years - and move on #spéirghorm

Survivors of childhood abuse (now aged in their 60's & 70's) are on day 16 of hunger strike outside the Dail over redress.
Why is the State treating victims so abysmally that elderly people are hunger striking and sleeping on the streets to get justice? #Speirgorm

The Basic Income for the Arts Scheme is €325 a week, similar to what they gave out during the pandemic. This is how much they've deemed one needs in order to live in Ireland. So why is disability benefit only €244? Why are disabled and sick people expected to live so far below the poverty line?

Also it was a Green Party initiative that didn't have a lot of FFG support at the time!

This looks like great news though it appears to only have a commitment of existing funding - which means it's not being expanded beyond the 2000 artists currently getting it? Will it be a new cohort? It's not very clear. Also kudos to Catherine Martin of the Green Party who birthed the BIA.
