I don’t know who needs to hear this today but banning books is never the answer.

Never once, in history, have the people who were banning or burning books been the good guys.

Never even once.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Thank you for this. This is what I really want to say. People understandably feel angry, but shutting out and fighting with half the country won't make America better. If we want it fixed, we're going to have to work together
I think it already is.

But seriously. Don’t call them names. We want the door open for them when they realize the mistake they made.

We are for a better America. Not a vindictive America
Hey Mark do you think voters remorse will ever hit the magat crowd

Want a great slogan for midterms?
"If you FAFO and are struggling because of Trump policies, we understand. The Dems are here for you. Tell us how we can help you "

You get the point.

FAFO will be the theme. Be the solution.

Oligarchy (noun): A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

Great reminder from Jamie. Also love the last line from Sec Pete’s meme. “We need to move very quickly through the shock”
A reminder Monday that there will be an avalanche of executive orders.

Mass deportations will start.

Meanwhile, the House and Senate will try to ram through a bunch of bad bills.

Do not get lost in a sea of despair.

That is what they want.

Prepare yourselves now.

I am tired of sacrificing myself for a country that so clearly hates me.

I’ll keep doing the work, because I am privileged enough to have a life to fall back to unlike many Dreamers, refugees, and asylum seekers, and even LGBTQ folks at risk.

But I’m tired, man.

Even if money was freedom of speech, no one deserves more freedom of speech than anyone else
The Supreme Court ruled corporations were allowed to donate unlimited amounts to politicians in 2010.

It only took them 6 years to take complete control of the government and 15 years to mark sure their voices are the only ones the masses ever hear again.

This is true, we need to fight less and be less antagonistic if we want to protect our democracy. You can even show kindness to someone who maybe doesn't deserve it, it doesn't hurt you
Chapter 12 “On Tyranny” @timothysnyder.bsky.social covers public acknowledgement of those who may be ostracized. Making eye contact, offering smiles to those who may feel unwanted, uncomfortable, out of place can make a world of difference. Do not shun them. If possible, bring them into your circle.

Hot take: I think following back any account that follows you is a bad idea. When you follow 600 people you don't get community, you get the same two posts being reposted over and over again. I've dwindled down my following and now it is so much less cluttered

There isn’t much new to say 4 years after the 1/6 domestic terrorist attack, but we must never forget that day! Just because half the country has excused it doesn’t make it OK. And make no mistake - if it were Democrats who did this, Republicans would never stop seeking justice. We shouldn’t either!
