I grew up in a rural area and it was taken as common knowledge that we subsidized the cities with their better infrastructure and services.
I feel like we really haven't had the full conversation about who pays for our society & who receives subsidy. MOST people I know in the rural & suburban Ohio communities I grew up in THINK they're the ones subsidizing the country & making it all work. This misinfo drives US politics today
