What Judge Xinis is banking on is that the government does not want to spend two weeks in discovery. Two big things can happen:

(1) They just make the call and get him back

(2) They spend two weeks creating a public record of their own fuck ups and then get sanctioned

Worried about tariffs but still placed an order. The tea is good, and I'm going to keep drinking for as long as I'm able to do so.
long story short, we’re stretched thin and working as fast as we can. if you’re American and worried about the tariffs, best to wait and order when things are less chaotic. appreciate everyone sticking with us during this mess

To understand this moment in American politics you have to accept that a significant portion of white Americans (regardless of political affiliation) hates Black people being free more than they love themselves or their children.

Do Americans want safe food?

Which Departments are responsible for food safety?

USDA
HHS -> FDA and CDC
Commerce -> NOAA (fisheries)

If one Department is disabled, we don’t have safe food

Enjoy your dinner 🍲

NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block.

The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US.

A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans.

Again, this isn't about efficiency.

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.

-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.

Reading tea leaves has never been in my wheelhouse, so I have no idea what the future holds for the continued enjoyment of my favorite consumption-based hobby. Amid the more pressing and harmful concerns ensnared in the situation at hand, I must take a moment to indulge in some disappointment.

This is becoming absurd—federal employees are now being told to remove pronouns from their email signatures. We will always stand by our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, no matter how many things we’re asked to delete or change. Inclusivity is at the core of who we are.

The media now wants to scold us for retracting our support because of their operations’ twenty five year effort of both-siding us into fascism. They’ve ‘some say’ed us into a criminal Presidency that is going to hand our vital intelligence to Russia. But y’know, fun crosswords.

There is that. VF clearly didn't fact check. Also, writers are dodging the main subject in all of their stories about this topic: that Cormac McCarthy was a pedophile.
There’s a major red flag fact check issue early in the piece regarding the paperback of THE ORCHARD KEEPER and that Augusta Britt recognized McCarthy from the author photo on the back.

Ain’t no author photo on the book.
