I *include* electronic artists I like in this assessment.
I’m sure I could prompt AI to give me a song that sounds like Autechre, but I can guarantee that the results wouldn’t even come CLOSE to my favorite songs from “Confield” or “Quaristice.”

one mystifyingly huge hole in suno/udio, at least the last time i looked into it, was jazz. you had to prompt heaven and earth to get the word to mean more than big band crooning, and any kind of bebop was hopeless, as was specificity about instrumentation, etc.

one of the clearest examples of this for me, about 5 years ago, was something trained exclusively on Krallice. it could make something that superficially sounded a lot like Krallice. and it demonstrated that as weird, atonal and (sorry but it's true) jammy as Krallice gets, they do make SONGS
