I live in Toronto and love good urban design that makes the world better for children to play in. I’m an artist.
Remember that immigrants commit crimes at a lower rate than citizens. Also asylum seekers and refugees have a human right to flee to save their own lives.

Have you noticed plane turbulence is getting worse?

It’s not your imagination. It’s climate change.
Our new study finds that the upper atmosphere is becoming more sheared and less stratified because of climate change. Both these changes are making the air less stable and more conducive to turbulence.

If I were a rich person, I’d donate to the TTC an earmarked fund to oil the subway wheels and fix the breaks so they don’t squeak. I’d also fund all the landscapers in my area so they could rake leaves instead of using leaf blowers/gas-powered anything.

The silence would be golden

This research looks like something I plan to read through carefully as a parent who lives in Toronto. It’s about infrastructure that makes roads safer for kids.

And we should also get solar panels on balconies for apartments. They do this in many other countries.
Still getting enough sunlight hours that on laundry day, my solar panels send Toronto Hydro more power than I consume in 24 hours. 😅

I don’t know why @mark-carney.bsky.social missed out on creating a national project to put solar panels on every residential roof.

James Dobson dying is a staring into the middle distance type of event. You have likely directly suffered bc of him. Few have done more to harm humanity at large in the past few decades. A principal architect of our current nightmare. No redeeming aspect. He was a rat made entirely out of plague.

I can’t post links to facebook but this article is on my mind today and I wanted to share it. I feel like I’m in mourning for Canadas forests this summer.

How did I miss this—how am I so out of touch with what is happening in Toronto!?!?! John Sewell is my hero and I didn’t even know he was still doing public speaking
Hey Toronto the Charlie Angus Elbows Up/Resistance Tour is coming to town.

Hope to see you there.

I'm right in the middle of post-euro-vacation urbanism resentment, which isn't a useful or interesting emotion but allow me this: our parks are so bad, especially the parkettes. The paths, the seating, the planting, the playgrounds, the allowed uses, the tree health. Everything about them is worse.

“Owning a car does not give you the right to take up public space.” When Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Lores was elected on a car-free platform in 1999, he wasted no time getting to work. The city was in severe decline, with pollution, health, safety, and quality-of-life all trending the wrong direction.🧵

Just like with Harvard’s right to teach international students, the conservatives want to make rights into privileges the government can revoke.
everything means the opposite for these people. freedom
means your freedom to obey. the first amendment means their freedom to tell you what you can read and think.
En banc Fifth Circuit overrules decades of precedent and holds that there is no First Amendment right to receive information in a public library.

These cars are designed by people. I wonder what these people are thinking. They must be aware that their decisions are directly leading to more people dying and they still do it. Why? I would really like to hear from a car designer and how they clear their conscience.
“Vehicles with higher, more vertical front ends pose greater risk to pedestrians. Vehicles with especially tall front ends are most dangerous to pedestrians, but a blunt profile makes medium-height vehicles deadly too.”

Deadly by design. And they know it.

Typical Parkside Drive. Zero bikes to check out due to spring weather and road closure (im not sure of the cause but maybe also due to the spring weather — there was a windy rain yesterday.)

It would be helpful if Parkside Drive had a protected bike lane.

What streets would you like to see go car free in Toronto all summer long?
April 28, 2025 at 10:06 PM
If Montreal can do car free streets in the summer—Toronto can too! I vote Kensington and Roncy!
April 28, 2025 at 10:05 PM
Please please Toronto: add some car free streets! I want to eat outside without the diesel fumes! It’s gorgeous outside!!!

vm.tiktok.com/ZMkKUXj3H/ please vote Feb 27! Vote ford out! I want good healthcare and schools in this province for my kids, and housing.

I hate seeing American die as they undo key government functions like clean water testing—but it’s tragic to see the same mindset in Canada.

One of our favorites! Action Comics No. 12. May, 1939. Clark Kent comes upon the aftermath of a car crash that kills a friend of his. As Superman, he takes to the airwaves and declares a... wait for it... war on cars.

1/2 Canada has a doctor shortage. Under ford, Ontario blocked international students from attending medical schools for any more that 5% of seats. This is going to mean instead of the best doctors in the world, you get lower skilled doctors because the competition just got removed.

Just got asked "why Signal?" and tl;dr:

Remember those embarrassing Elon Musk texts from court records? Assume the govt and phone company can read all your texts. Meta owns WhatsApp & Insta DMs and FB Messenger.

Signal literally only knows when you signed up and last connected. Nothing to share.
