I've said this before, but it bears repeating: More people should really talk with elders in the fandom while they're still alive. None of us are getting younger, and we all have interesting stories to tell.

Every time a GOP Senator blames the shutdown on Democrats, a reporter should ask why they don’t just eliminate the filibuster for budget bills, like they just did for block confirmations.

years later the show was fansubbed and I got to enjoy it as it was intended, it's a really entertaining series that deserves its place in Japanese pop culture

speaking of Attack No. 1, the first time I saw the show was a video store rental of an off-air copy of a TV broadcast of an extremely widescreen theatrical release, giving new meaning to the term "squash and stretch"

I've uploaded a new anime convention videos, this time the Anime Expo 1992 costume contest. This version was a produced video by the con and aired on their in-room cctv channels where I recorded it. That was a very neat feature of the old Red Lion Inn.. #otakuarchive youtu.be/QRpKKPwjZ04?...

CNN complicit in Trump & Miller's disinformation
boozybadger.lawyersandliquor.com
Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from
The article with a picture of an armed men standing in front of a burning donut shop. You must click through to read the caption “
Two National guardsmen stand guard outside a burning donut shop in Los Angeles on April 30, 1992.
The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”

Tensai Bakabon (Meet the Boneheads)
1971-1972, 1975-1977 (40+103 eps)

TMS only made the first two TV anime adaptations of (one of) Fuji Akatsuka's iconic gag manga where the titular main character got upstaged by his dad in terms of popularity & iconicity.

Also also never getting licensed.

Attack No. 1
1969-1971 (104 eps)

The TV anime based on the first shojo manga to surpass 10 volumes, this volleyball classic helped get girls in Japan to start watching TV, and in some ways is almost as iconic as Star of the Giants is, if on a slightly smaller scale.

Also never getting licensed.

Ye gods, what an angry young man/fan I was in 1991.
Some thoughts:
Glad I switched to upper-case lettering.
Glad I learned to draw since then.
Glad some things have gotten better since then.
Wish more things got better.
Wish the Journal was a regular print magazine again (where this first ran).

I always liked his art, but I don't think it was really a good fit for Robotech, or the other licensed anime titles he did covers for.

This will go down as the most heartbreaking thing of my career. An absolute Mount Rushmore of manga scholars I was honored to be included with. Everyone included, such as myself and @okazu.yuricon.com did some of the best work of our lives. A brilliant book.

Now dead. Because of image rights.

Today, on another round of “anime mysteries that likely have answers”: who’s responsible for the (US) English dub of Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie?
The 1995 film poster says Streamline, but all home video releases say it was Urban Vision. While they did the VHS, they didn’t even exist until 1996!
