A year ago, I wrote, financed, shot and directed a short on Super 8 film (about two spies who know they are characters in a spy movie). In a few months, there will be another one (NOT about two spies who know they are characters in a spy movie), but for now, you can watch (or rewatch) this one here.

Seriously: I think this is weird, but that's because I'm old and like it when silly rituals stay the same. That sentimentality aside, unyoking the Academy Awards from a network that has seemed increasingly annoyed by their requirements could (COULD, not WILL) be great and liberating.

perhaps the best thing about it is that, without having to appease idiotic network execs, the show can do things like, oh i dunno, actually put a spotlight on cinema

hopefully the producers of the show recognize the opportunity, because Letterboxd is only growing, and cinema culture is real

If the Bills play the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, it's going to be the weirdest game ever played.
just wait until the seahawks start playing two halves every game, they’ll be unstoppable

I've missed Philip Rivers as much as the next guy (unless the next guy is Shane Steichen), but the Colts might be better off playing the Single Wing with Jonathan Taylor instead of having Rivers throw wobbly ducks to the bench all game.

Trump’s foreign policy isn’t “noninterventionism,” it is a kind of neo neo conservatism devoted to imposing authoritarian ethnonationalism abroad instead of democracy (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Unlike we all thought, the Cold War did not end in 1989. It's still going on, and Russia might be close to winning it.

I am not familiar with his plays, but I am VERY familiar with his adaptation of Le Carré's THE RUSSIA HOUSE, a brilliant work of adaptation that was underappreciated at the time and remais underrated today.

Saw it a few weeks ago, and it's a brilliant film.
"Once in a while, you see a movie that doesn’t feel made, but extracted from a dreaming mind. It won’t go to you and hand over its meanings. You have to go to it." I reviewed The Secret Agent, my favorite film of 2025. Haunting, beautiful, profound. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-...

They are not merely selling their voices. They are selling out every voice actor in the world, and should be ashamed of themselves.
