And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

For years, people argued that there's no point in taking climate action unless China is onboard. I'm at a COP30 event where Chinese government officials and renewable industry reps are outlining the fast-paced renewable energy transition and long-term carbon neutrality plan. The story has flipped.

Do you remember that brief couple of days where it was deemed utterly unacceptable antisemitism to suggest Israel would ever attack a hospital, that then turned into a year of the media telling us Palestinian hospitals were all secret command bases actually?
I don’t see a need to reiterate what I’ve spoken about repeatedly and what we all saw in real time, but I will say: every media outlet fell over themselves to repeat clearly insane claims from the Israeli government and coordinated bullying to toe the line was instant, harsh and extremely intense.

Reading an SF book where a character unexpectedly starts talking in Irish, but the twist is... It's Google Translate Irish, where "bheith fós", meaning "to be yet", is meant to convey "be still". At least I think that's what the author wanted it to mean.

Great story!
Not because I had a small part to play but because now more than ever we need to amplify kindness and human connection, let me share with you the Tale of Kathleen & John

After I had given directions to Kathleen (as I was to learn was her name) she headed off with her trusty walking frame, Esmeralda
A woman steps into the shop: Where do I vote?
Me: Are you looking for Carysfort National School?
Her: Yes, I feel it's my duty, I turned 97 yesterday!

New thing - this is a part of a much larger work. Each square comprises 4 of the colours of an actual leaf collected over a series of walks, and then photographed, uploaded, compiled and arranged in chronological order. The entire work has 144 leaves and 576 colours.
