Observations from this article on "tech" chat groups: 1) they are 100% male, 2) they are texting all day, 3) they seem to have little other work to do, 4) these are investors, not true 'techies', 4) the author of the article seems not to realize himself how airless and homogeneous these groups are.

The term "Luddite" as a pejorative synonym for "technophobe" was a technocrat PR coup; that's not what Luddites were about. They were a labour movement fighting to give workers control over technologies which were advancing w/o oversight and rapidly automating them out of their jobs. Sound familiar?

Too much sci fi assumes advanced body modification tech will mean fewer visible trans people because many cis people can only imagine us valuing passing. Like not only will the future hold far more radical forms of gender expression, gender aside: people are gonna have tails, horns, and robot legs.
