I have not yet seen Heated Rivalry but I kept seeing screenshots online of two different couples so I wasn’t exactly sure who Ilya and Shane were and was mightily perplexed. So I researched and educated myself because that’s how we learn. Not through AI summaries which I’ll decry to the grave…

@kdc.bsky.social could do something along these lines I have no doubt. If she had time with everything else she had going on of course…
I want someone to write a thoughtful essay on how fandom culture is actually not that dissimilar from cults.

babe wake up new rivals-to-lovers hallmark movie just dropped: they're calling it

Ham For the Holidays
I like to imagine that there is a rivalry between two top ham-sniffers: one, a meticulous keeper of precise traditions, the other a brash bad-boy with a colossal nose.

Some years ago a friend gave me pjs as a Christmas present & I had to wash them as soon as I unwrapped them because the smell from her indoor smoking was overpowering.
this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

There are a lot of Charities needing support this time of year. If you have the means, perhaps you might throw some money to the GSPCA whose means are often stretched by demand. People can be shitty animal owners…

This is why it’s good to know people who read different genres that range from big 6 to indie to self published. Whether your follow their newsletter/socials/group chat or know them in real life. Also if you’re not sure about a book, the library is right there…
This is a good reminder for those of us making best of lists that if yours looks like everyone else's, it's a sign that you need to read more widely. There is so much great work that often goes unnoticed because it doesn't get a splashy marketing campaign.
My condolences to writers and artists who have done great work but have cracked few (or no) year-end lists.

A first-world problem, to be sure, but I know how much that stings. Rest assured, you all did great and deserved better.

Honestly I went to see that film & sat there wondering when I’d start to enjoy it. Anytime anyone calls it the perfect Xmas movie, I’m afraid of what other dumb opinions they have.
With Liam Neeson coming out as an anti-vaxxer I'm forced to conclude that "Love Actually" may now be something of a problematic movie.

I remember when Disney would sue the pants off you for even having something similar to one of their characters. The early season Simpsons seasons have satirical mentions peppered through.
Well this ain’t good.

“Disney is making a $1 billion investment in OpenAI and will allow the AI platform to use its characters and properties to generate short, user-prompted social videos.”

Listen, I miss my dead father more than my grandmother most of the time but I’m not engaging with him either, not as AI, not as a ghost, nothing. They died. I let them go. I am akin to a Movement. I evolve and work with what I have as best I can. So fuck off with your aul AI shite.

This kind of humour when someone dies isn’t unusual in Irish families.
Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

We had lockdowns where people broke the law to get together. For all the tech we used to keep in contact, I don’t recall anyone saying “I wish we had a metaverse!” But then I am a Poor with actual friends & not a billionaire with fake friends. My life wasn’t an empty shell during the pandemic
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.

As a volunteer leader with a similar organisation, the trustees don’t get paid to sit on the board but they have jobs. Good ones too, some of them. And what is the point of Guiding as a youth movement with a legacy since 1910 if we don’t stand up for something…(1)

+1 to this rec. Crohns means I use the bathroom more than most & I have a dog & I’m immune suppressed so handwashing happens a lot. Vaseline intensive care Advanced Repair is also excellent. Lightweight, absorbs quickly. Stops that dry & sore feeling on your hands.
If you are cooking Thanksgiving dinner, you are going to be washing your hands even more than usual and that can dry out your pretty paws. I am a BIG fan of Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream. Am I a "brand ambassador"? No. I am a lady who spent years in jobs that dried out my hands.

This morning I saw a charge on my debit card & had a OMG HACKED! moment. Then I looked properly & saw my Kobo preorder of SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE had arrived. I love when I forget what date an ebook is due out!
SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗

The story: A cranky baker's erroneous obituary brings the woman who got away back into his life--& now he needs to convince her to stay.
The heat level: steamy!
The baked goods: plentiful!

And you know after 30+ yrs I wouldn’t want one of my dead father either. B/c it wouldn’t be him, just this bastardised poor approximation. And our deceased deserve better than that.
For real, check this out. Evil.

I loved my grandmother, cared for her in her final years but I’d leap into a bin & refuse to come out if presented with an AI version of her. The real life one was more than enough to contend with. She was hardcore to the VERY end.

NYT excels in breathless gushing articles about these kind of women. This publishing house (who I’ve heard of before) reminds me of Goop but with romance to give you Wellness instead of things to put in your hoo-hah. Being wealthy & thinking you’re avant garde & a revolutionary force must be great.
What a grift! In addition to basically being like when tech bros reinvent the damn bus every three years, it's also like they read one romance book and thought, you know what would make this better? An exit through the gift shop where we can scam you for exorbitantly priced merch.
I’ll say this much: This reads exactly like what it is: people who discovered romance five years ago and decided they had all kinds of amazing new ideas to “fix” it. Connections between books? That feel kind of cozy to the reader? How did no one ever think of that?? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/b...

All events, concerts, plays, exhibitions should be organised with disabilities, visible or invisible in mind. As should the venues.

Also, getting married or cohabitating shouldn’t mean that a person loses disability benefits.

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

New builds of homes/offices, apartments, churches, and everything else should be designed specifically for accommodating disabilities, visible & invisible. It should be the norm not an expensive add on after the fact. This benefits EVERYONE regardless of health/mobility

No I just hate YOUR* art if it’s made by AI. and you know what? I hate you too if you use AI for things that mean you don’t think or wonder or research or create for yourself.

*not directed at OP or Leslie. Just people in general who use AI. I’m intolerant of AI the way some are Lactose & LGBTQ+
