Unfortunately the tech issues aren't resolved, but will be resolved this week. So I'm pushing the release of Issue 4 to October 14. It's frustrating wanting to work on it but not being able to, but I promise it's coming!

Hey there, I'm El Chupalabras. A programmer-turned-teacher-turned-artist and graphic designer, whose true love has always been language and worldbuilding. I also run the Yggdrasil Item Shop alongside my wife.

During the 2020 lockdown, I rediscovered that passion and began creating content under this pseudonym. You might know me from games like Paraclasm, Sheltered! and Dread Shrines, or my various modules for MÖRK BORG.

For the last four years, I've been working solo on this project, my most ambitious one to date: KOKOTÖNA.

Inspired by a desire to explore a fantasy setting that wasn't another European analogue, and by a single, throwaway name inside the MÖRK BORG corebook that captured my imagination, it’s not only the game I wanted to make but the one I needed to make as well.

As a Mexican creator, I'm crafting a grimdark world rooted in all the things I love about precolonial Mesoamerica, and doing the research to ensure it's a fun, respectful and authentic portrayal. This is a passion project in the truest sense, and I'm handling all the writing, art direction, and design myself without the use of generative AI.

By backing this project, you're directly funding the final stages of production. Your support will allow me to dedicate my time to the intensive process of layout and interior illustration, ensuring the book is as stunning visually as it is narratively. A portion of the funds will also be allocated to hire professional proofreaders and editors to polish the text to a professional standard. This campaign is the crucial next step in bringing this deeply personal, hand-crafted world to life.
