“Who’s going to pay for all those social services? You????”

Yes. I want my tax dollars to go towards making life better for everyone.

I want them to fund housing, education and healthcare instead of war, ICE and enriching the billionaire class.

an organism that perpetually grows is called cancer. every other species self regulates it's population, for example when there's too many coyotes they start having smaller litters.
Why wouldn't the human species be doing the same thing?
10 billion of us is plenty.
“People may be persuaded that a stable world population is in their rational self-interest,” writes Jennifer Sciubba. “But it is an altogether different proposition for people to decide that it is in their rational self-interest to produce children themselves.” READ: belib.org/depopulation...

It’s #winter. The buzzing has stopped - mostly.
So what’s happened to all the #bees?
Let me explain.
Please #repost this thread.
Don’t just like/look.
It literally takes you a second. Costs you nothing.
Bees are in trouble and need you good people to help.
Thank you.

If there was ever a season when despair was justifiable, it would be this one.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

NB: When I, a professor of law, profess that an act is unlawful, I am not doing it to inform the lawbreaker, but rather to inform you, the reader.

So the question “what, like you think he cares?” is inapposite. The question is whether *you* care. I think you should, which is why I bother.

Thread. My daughter, diagnosed with dysgraphia and ADHD in her teens, got a first in archaeology and a masters degree. Support and personal effort, a winning combination.

I could hyperfocus during revision and exams. My daughter’s diagnosis led to me understanding the way my own brain functions.
A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

There's a fascinating epistemological difference between how Jewish people relate to the Torah and how Christian people relate to the Bible.

From the Council of Nicaea forward, Christianity had bound itself to a literate tradition - by which I mean that they view knowledge as closed, not open. 🧵
