EarthCARE is a inexhaustible source of beautiful imagery of some of the most spectacular phenomena nature has to offer, so I've started a Gallery page on the EarthCARE Science web site, showing for example convective motions in the trainbands of Typhoon Ragasa... www.earthcarescience.net/gallery

You've made it look even prettier! 😍

I got so much more from Botticelli's Primavera by doing the jigsaw. This winter will be Brueghel's Tower of Babel 😁

Of course, the current UK government is moving towards removing transgender people's right to privacy, which I guess would be their way of avoiding human rights infringement!

Just counter Reform by offering citizenship freely to anyone with ILR. Anything to shift the narrative. And, you know, inspire the silent majority.
robfordmancs.bsky.social
I'll have more to say on Reform's proposals to scrap ILR at some point but for now I'll just note this - anyone telling you this is a popular idea doesn't know the polling. Overwhelming majority of public back giving people who work and pay taxes most or all rights after 5 years or less

It's been 4 days and I still come back to this post. Is there no pressure to have metadata with microscopic images, have these images publicly accessible, and traceable to the originator? Am I too naive in thinking that might help against fake imagery?

Another damp squib for the "patriots" with the BBC reporting equal numbers in the counter protest 😂 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Trying something new today #bournemouth
A group of counter protesters holding placards saying "Stop the far right". In the distance, flags of England and the UK are flown by anti-refugee protesters.

"One side has fears over the cost of living, people's sense of identity, and the arrival of newcomers and how to deal with them."

I think you'll find that "both sides" share these fears, but only one is a violent racist mob.

There's an anti-immigration protest taking place in Bournemouth tomorrow, and this poster is for the counter demonstration.
Poster advertising a "Stop the hate" demonstration which is taking place outside the Roundhouse hotel in Bournemouth at 12 noon on Saturday 20th September.
The poster is bright pink and yellow, and there are a number of logos at the bottom of groups that will be attending, including BCP Labour, Bournemouth university, stand up to racism and the national education union.

This is phenomenal.

And it’s not even difficult - it’s just laying out the extensive evidence we have about Farage and his hypocrisies.

The fact that he’s faced barely an ounce of this in the UK over the last year is why he’s leading in the polls.

Jamie Raskin, "They only want to protect free speech that they agree with"

JR then demolishes Farage, ending with

"You might want to think twice before you let Nigel Farage Make Britain Great Again"

This, from the Quakers, is a pretty good example of how to resist pressure from bigot lobbying groups. Effectively “we legally can allow trans people to use the loo, we morally should, and we tried it and nothing bad happened”

A reminder that "hundreds" protested in Bournemouth in support of trans rights following the Supreme Court ruling on gender, arguably more than the 200-max anti-refugee protesters outside the Roundhouse hotel.
