Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

See, it's not that you were right and we were wrong, it's that "recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus," in that Trump is doing the fascist things he repeatedly said he would do, the things everyone to our left said he would do, and we dismissed as hyperbole.

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

This is absurd to put all of those CBP agents involved in the murder of Alex Pretti back onto the streets already.

They pose a very real, proven danger to the community.

Tl;dr: There are no other "fixes" anymore. This presidency needs to end. Now. And the longer we pretend that this isn't the actual, prescribed, "normal" constitutional mechanism & process for times like this, the longer we're going to find ourselves here on the precipice of full authoritarianism.

We could go on & on. Yes, presidentialism was a grave mistake & it's a very dumb system. The problem, ultimately, is systemic, but it's also that people who swore oaths are cowards & aren't doing their damn jobs. And we, they, & the media don't want to talk about that, because it's painful to admit.

If he stopped everything today, he will still have violated the emoluments clause & monetized the presidency to the tune of billions since 2017. The <only> mechanism to "fix" that is impeachment & removal.

The inescapable conclusion that neither the NYT nor WaPo editorial board can bring themselves to make is that this administration has to end. Its response to these killings—let alone the killings themselves—is obscene and totally disqualifying.
