Hey, I know books are expensive and money is tight right now.

But if there's a brand new book you really wanna read — including my own Lessons in Magic and Disaster — you can help get the book into way more hands by requesting it from your local library!

It's easy! Check your library's website.

I was chatting about this op-ed w/ a friend; what is the best way to communicate to a general audience about police surveillance? etc.

& one of my conclusions was that people fixate on the power of the tools when they are new to the subject, but eventually they evolve past the tools

they've destroyed the entirety of federal consumer protection, corporate oversight and regulatory autonomy across every industry that touches every aspect of your lives

After the standards underpinning the World Wide Web were created in the early 90s, we decided the best way to fund the web’s development was through ads and not as a public resource like roads or libraries.

Every day I think about how different things would be if we’d gone the other way.

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.

Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Sad to find out the things I love the most about America are the things some people hate the most: free speech, democracy, cultural diversity, innovation in arts and sciences, national parks…

Marvel Studios leaving Georgia and taking all its productions to the UK because they don’t have to pay for employees’ health insurance there due to universal healthcare is a valuable lesson for America.

We’ll ignore it but the lesson still stands. Universal healthcare creates jobs.
