My old pal @eniiler.bsky.social with a killer story. What we save defines us as a culture—the archive is our memory and our future. And we’re throwing it away? Madness.

What is the value of "I read X books" or "watched X movies in the past year"? A problematic elementary school metric. It's about the enjoyment of arts and I think quantification just subtracts from it. What did I learn from books this year? What did I feel watching this film?

The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

Stand by Me will remain my favorite film. And a great man off the screen. Soul crushing.
Rob Reiner, the legendary director and actor who rose to prominence in 'All in the Family' and went on to direct classics 'This Is Spinal Tap,' 'Stand by Me,' and 'The Princess Bride,' was found dead in his home alongside his wife.

I am afraid the "just build more" - prevailing neoliberal YIMBY - approach to more affordable housing will work approx. as well as "just one more lane" did for traffic in the long run. Which is just a tad bit better than NIMBY, or, not good enough.

I feel like one of the most underrated explanations for what's happening right now in global politics is that almost everyone has lost their minds.

Are there any prominent "invisible hand of the market" YIMBY urbanists who are not white, upper middle class people? Or at least a bit more diverse?

Solo goes last and it's perfect.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Everyone having enough to live nicely bolsters the economy and sustains itself. A small number of companies and people being ultra wealthy bolster only themselves and money is funneled up and away. It's simple and proven.
