A popular North Las Vegas swap meet is back after managers worked with legal experts on new protocols. But fears of an ICE crackdown linger, and it’s had a chilling effect on Broadacres’ vendors and surrounding businesses.

A teacher emailed me & said "My scientist didn't reply to me. My scientists ALWAYS reply to me! What the heck!".

I was like "Well. Science is kinda crumbling. Friends/colleagues are losing their jobs or at least funding, & some are being told to cease all outside communications".

She hadn't heard.

Darlings, do not forget to take breaks. Ten minutes out in the sunshine. Fifteen hiding in a blanket. Twenty minutes on the treadmill.

You need breaks.

And hydrate, you complicated house plant:

just stumbled on a real jaw-dropper of a line in an essay -- “The corollary of being interested in a great range of things is to have sympathy with a great range of outlooks” -- and that, my friends, is why reading is so important.

Kansas is experiencing one of the worst TB outbreaks in recorded US history.

With little communication coming top down, it’s important to stay informed on the risks of TB and how to stay safe.

Do it.

Text a teacher.
Tell a librarian.
Talk to a scout troop leader.

Help us spread the word! Times are tough, but we're still here communicating science.
Many of us are really feeling helpless. This feeling is why I started @skypeascientist.bsky.social 8 years ago. We were doing the exact same thing then (currently feels worse?).

I have an action you can take today. Tell an educator about our program. Connect kids with science in spite of all this.

Few material things can provide perspective. This does for me.

His wife (Edith) was murdered, his daughters (Margot & Anne) died of Typhus.

This is important. Nature-based education and experience, from very young age to very old can’t fix all the ills of society, but it is a big step in the right direction. It connects us to the real world and helps us understand what is really important.
Angela Garcia is the co-director of True Roots Nature School Program, an outdoor education curriculum for children ages 18 months to 12 years.

It's designed to provide all the benefits of indoor education while enriching the experience with nature immersion.

Great news!

The Oklahoma School for the Deaf is offering FREE self-paced classes for both ASL 101 and 102 this Spring.

You don't have to live in OK or have any deaf/HoH people in your care/household to sign up.

I took 101 and LOVED it. Super hyped to get to 102!

Hidden gem: Scavengers Reign

An animated sci-fi show about a freighter crew stranded on an alien planet. The spotlight is on the bizarre world as we get to witness the unique fauna and flora reveal itself during the crew's exploration. It is beautiful, relentlessly brutal and utterly fascinating.
