My mom said that she watched Muppet Christmas Carol last night with her husband and my sister, and then she was, like, "But we skipped all the boring songs," specifically citing "When Love Is Gone" as being "too long" and "dragging down the movie." Is my mom a Jeffrey Katzenberg plant????

"Cancel culture" is when people without power air their frustration about something using the Internet.

in reality, the government & corporations are the only ones who have the ability to "cancel" anything.

The rest of it is free speech & democracy.

Mouse Hunt, a movie I will defend to the death, I realized several years ago is set around Christmas and it it's a great Christmas watch.
What’s your favorite underappreciated Christmas movie?

Just watched Challengers for the third time and it still rules. The almost complete lack of support from critic’s circles is baffling to me. In a landscape where everyone understandably complains about a lack of complex, exciting films for adults we should be screaming about it from the rooftops.

The Rankin-Bass movie Hobbit has Christmas movie vibes thanks to the house style, 70s ditties, and a kind of theological approach to adapting Tolkien. This season, convince your kids Gandalf is Santa and the dwarves are his elves!

If Bend policy decisions were made using Facebook comments, all our lives would be a disaster.
"Just look at the Facebook comments!" and "Everyone I talk to hates it!"

There seems to be a perception that we should base policy on social media comments or the results of a survey.

I think that kind of input can & should inform decisions, but it seems unwise to expect it to be decisive.

In light of recent events, i’d like to add that my health insurance DENIED my post-exposure rabies shots and i’m now being billed $6,000.

They deemed it “unnecessary.”

Syd and I watched Hot Frosty and they live skeeted the whole thing while I just posted my review on letterboxd boxd.it/7WCjTD
Hot Frosty is a damn good time and a camp masterpiece that I will be considering for entrance into my usual holiday rotation. The director knew exactly what kind of movie they wanted to make, the actors knew what kind of movie they were in, and everyone absolutely nailed the tone with enough

I wanted to watch Herzog's version of Nosferatu but then I kinda fell asleep during it so Syd live tweeted the experience for me
Just going to thread my ongoing Herzog Nosferatu thoughts here.

I am one of the lucky few who never used Twitter but then I also stopped using social media in general for a few years, so why not join Blue Sky so I can see a few friends and just talk to my favorite podcast hosts!
