We occupy a very specific niche when it comes to the public discussion of history, and that niche is serious answers to the question of how bamboozled Hitler would have been by big chungus memes.

For today's Eldritch 2 devlog, I wrote a bit about my in-game level editor and the process of building dungeon rooms. Including drawing navmesh by hand, for reasons!

Something that hasn't been made clear: Firefox will have an option to completely disable all AI features.

We've been calling it the AI kill switch internally. I'm sure it'll ship with a less murderous name, but that's how seriously and absolutely we're taking this.

Every year another Doom birthday rolls by and reminds me of the same thing:

I never actually launched the project I started five years ago with @textfiles.com

Today, I finally fix that.

NEW VIDEO! To me, the best satire helps us envision a better world. Grand Theft Auto, as made by a Rockstar that treats its workers as terribly as it has done, says this is as good as it gets. Here's a video discussing why I've personally had enough of that.

Enjoy! Shares appreciated!

Our legacy game celebration begins today!

We might as well start at the beginning. Thomas Was Alone was the very first Bithell Games title. Initially a flash game, our story of rectangles and friendship jumped its way onto major platforms and set in motion the future of our small studio.

The studio even shipped a floppy disk press kit that reporters had to "hack" into for bios & production materials. www.mentalfloss.com/article/5029...

Until this week, it's been impossible to play the games of the 1993 Pioneer LaserActive without one of the vanishingly rare, disintegrating consoles.

Here's the story of the guy who's been trying to fix that for years -- and all the hardware and software he had to build to make it possible.
"This is the first:" The 16 year odyssey of "time, money, wrong turns and frustration" it took to finally emulate the Pioneer LaserActive
In April 2009, a Sega fan decided to look into emulating the Mega LD, a quirky and little-known hybrid of Genesis and LaserDisc. This week he finished the job.

I'm experimenting with a way to show how DOS games render themselves.

Basically I'm recording a lossless video of the game running on a very slow (virtual) CPU, then removing all the frames where nothing happens, and I'm playing it back sped up a lot.
