Most benefits go to people IN WORK.

Because…

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PROPERLY PAID JOBS,

Rather than insisting employers pay decent wages, governments use taxpayers’ money to subsidise employers who don’t.

Welfare was not meant to support employers.

This is completely wrong.
Kevin Maguire is right, 60% of kids in poverty are in households where at least one parent works.

We already live in a perpetual state of class warfare. It’s called capitalism.

The socialist response is not to convince the ruling class to play nice (or 'learn MMT'). The socialist response is to support people to fight back.

Amen 🙏
We could invest in green energy transition

We could pay carers and nurses

We could have the education that would liberate people to live life to the full.

We could guarantee full employment

We could build a state that cares.

And all without asking permission from the City.

Politics demands people in power choose how we live

Unemployment is a choice

Austerity is a choice

Poverty is a choice

Failing public services are a choice, and

Climate breakdown by inaction is a choice

Child hunger is a choice

Foodbanks are a choice

All made for us by our politicians

Merkel here expresses a sentiment so many Germans had following the fall of the Berlin Wall: that the big ideological fights were done.

That we now have to fight again for democracy and our system and freedom is something that we all need to realise.

As thousands make their way home from Your Party’s conference, I want to say a huge thank you to all the workers and volunteers — cleaners, caterers, technicians and so many more — who made it possible.

It’s people’s hard work, often unrecognised, that keeps things going!

More misrepresenting the facts by our media. While Corbyn can’t stand for the leadership as it will be run by a CEC, it’s hardly a ‘blow’ (I’m sure he won’t lose sleep) and there is nothing to stop him standing for one of the named committee roles.

Thankfully, @bsky.app has a setting for that.

- Go to Settings
- Then Accessibility
- Toggle “Require alt text before posting” to the active setting.

Now Bluesky will remind you to add alt text to all of your posts.

The number of people (working people) accepting this as sensible or a good compromise is staggering.

And let’s not even mention the insignificant tutting from the unions

This is how we end up with little or no rights at all

They're panicking because "won't the rich just leave" has been utterly debunked.

They've got no actual argument.
