Just mentioning it off-hand, but on top of being the best Far Cry game since Primal, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a much better story than the films.

No white saviors here. You're a Na'vi abducted at childhood to be groomed into a corporate 'ambassador'. It's far more pointedly anti-colonialist.

This is so Hollywood. Reminds me of the super airy, bright, high-ceiling luxury loft apartments in McWhirters, behind the run-down 100yr-old brick facade.

I had a sleepover with a rich, arts student who was there on daddy’s dime. I got to see how the other half live. I’ve been jealous ever since.

WELL THEN
Oh shit. I didn't know a fork of "Liberal Crime Squad" appeared that makes the game playable in a browser, as well as updates the game's setting into a more modern one.

Recreating The Fringe cafe complete with background music by Tor Linløkken was always an idle ‘when I have money to throw in a bottomless pit’ dream of mine, that will obviously never happen.

I’ve seen several admirable attempts though. Not that they ever stick around. It’s a rough biz.
Stepping from one world to another for this week's #RandomGameSaturday with Funcom's The Longest Journey.

Still one of my favourite point and click adventure games. 💜 I connected so hard with April Ryan too at the time, making it even more of a special first experience.

In 1841, American painter John Goffe Rand invented the collapsible paint tube, which kept colors fresh outdoors.

By the 1880s, Van Gogh relied on them to work in fields and streets, making plein-air painting central to his style.

I just saw someone yell “they’re just using it to generate ideas!”

And

I hate to say it

But if you work in the ART DEPARTMENT and you need a death machine stuffed with your colleagues’ work to give you ideas

Quit.

I went to a Wiggles concert last week where the ‘cuddle cam’ did the normal parent/child spots, but finished after moving to two of the Wiggles characters (I think it was Bok and Shirley Shawn) who did a parody of the Coldplay cheating thing.
Folks, they’re flooding the zone with ridiculous news to distract you. We have to stay focused on the real story: that guy shouldn’t have cheated on his wife at the Coldplay concert.

This is the first time I've made DOS freeware in 20 years. The time was right, and what a ride. I made sure it can run on my Tandy 2500, a 386SX/20, off a floppy. You can play via browser too.

Check the others out too. So many good games!

Damn. That would’ve broken my streak of skipping AC games.
Ubisoft canceled an 'Assassin's Creed' game set after the Civil War

• Featured a Black Assassin who was formerly a slave

• Would fight the emerging Ku Klux Klan

• Leadership canceled it — concerned with US political climate & Yasuke backlash

This is one of my favourite 'social bot' accounts. I'm really glad that my home feed can be peppered with things like this.
Monet’s late-summer canvases make you feel a warm season losing steam. In Stacks of Wheat (End of Summer, 1890/91), he uses warm ochres, lingering greens, alongside a blue-violet shadow cooling the ground.

I played the 'vertical slice' playtest of The Lift yesterday and keep wanting to go back.

It's got a 'ruined station exploration/upgrading' feel like Prey or System Shock, but also the methodical 'cleaning' progression of Power Wash Simulator/Viscera Cleanup

I love this kind of thing. Thanks to these people asking questions.
The final game in the Ancient Evil trilogy holds another mystery. How could they sell this ONLY digitally in 2001? I couldn't even find a payment page, only a "download the demo". Were you sending dollar bills to Australia?
The website went down just 10 months after the game came out. What happened?

Hey my friend made a game! It’s out now! It’s a rogue/survivors-like game as a destruction derby car with optional lasers! It’s fun! Like… not just ‘not bad for a solo indie dev’s first effort’ fun, but actually fun fun. There’s a demo! And the game is cheap!
