My neighbor is a nurse who sees a lot of death and frequently comes home from her overnight shifts wrecked with trauma and I just think our health care workers need more support because they can’t be expected to carry all this while they all have PTSD from the pandemic

Why can’t we help them

Future for riders is frightening if AC Transit expands hydrogen fleet and they continue to perform so poorly.

At scale, 43% or 64% availability would lead to tons of canceled bus runs.

A few years ago BART experienced similar availability due to rain/wheel flats, and it absolutely wrecked service.
In 2024, AC Transit's hydrogen bus fleet achieved an availability rate of 43% (for the 2018 variety) and 64% (for the 2022 variety). Essentially you need twice as many hydrogen buses as service you want to run actransit.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=...

$31 billion over 4 years to subsidize the car industry.

If instead that money was spent on public transit operations, it would end the transit agency fiscal crises in CA, IL, PA, and other states.

No service cuts. Big service increases.

Republican priorities are backwards. We need change.
Thanks to GOP’s “big, beautiful bill,” auto loan interest will soon be tax-deductible.

Sound exciting? It’s not – unless you sell cars.

In fact, the new tax break will make US transportation even more distorted, autocentric, & polluting than it already is.

In Bloomberg, I explained why 🧵
The High Costs of Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful’ New Car Loan Deduction
By letting some buyers deduct interest on auto loans, the GOP megabill promises to lower transportation bills. But this tax break could do the opposite.

Please then realize the president is imposing a tax on American consumers to leverage a foreign nation into making a domestic political decision that will help one of his political allies.

Nice to get a free BART ride this morning, but this is terrible.

Clipper 2 is years later than planned - holding back critical fare improvements - and Cubik can’t even keep the original Clipper system running.

MTC needs to hold Cubik accountable and make transit agencies whole for fare loss.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands.

Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

This is really funny because after congestion pricing launched and the haters were instantly proved wrong — traffic really did go down, transit use really did go up — they clung to "well let's see the business receipts!" as a last resort. And now we know business receipts are through the roof!
Memo to the President: Manhattan Economy Improving, Thanks to Congestion Pricing - Streetsblog New York City
Lower Manhattan's economy has gotten an almost billion-dollar boost in just the first month of congestion pricing's existence, the MTA said on Wednesday.

The U.S. betrayal of Ukraine & Europe will go down in history as one of the greatest betrayals of democracy. The U.S. is acceding to a brutal dictatorship’s conquest of part of a democratic nation.

This capitulation will do nothing but embolden Putin & other autocrats to grab land from democracies.

Congestion pricing seems to have triggered a surge in Manhattan pedestrian activity:

“Nearly 36M people last month were in areas south of 60th Street in Manhattan, a 4.6% boost from January 2024.” (The increase was 1.6% outside the zone.)

Suggests retail sales are growing within the zone, too.

The Democrats had almost a year to devise a strategy to counter Proj. 2025 should it be enacted and they completely neglected to do so. That they're now on the back foot against it is a problem of their own making, and it isn't being a bad solider to tell them we expect better from them.
