The Senate version of GOP's budget bill dropped in the middle of the night. Astonishingly, it got EVEN WORSE. It raises energy costs, kills $100s of billions of investment in manufacturing, makes grids less reliable, increases pollution & constrains our ability to compete w/China on AI. Loser stuff.

What does it take, man. They’ve arrested mayors, broken into Congressman’s offices. Does anyone doubt they would arrest governors or Senators? What line needs to be crossed before we all recognize this as lawless authoritarianism?

I disagree with Michael Huemer on a few things, but he is easily the most lucid, most funny philosopher who also writes for popular audiences. And, still quite rigorous.

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

One thing that is fairly clear at this point is that the entire point of whisking people out of the country with no due process in defiance of a judge's orders to put them into a foreign gulag *was so they could produce fascist content*.

This rebuke of advocacy groups always claims to be a rebuke of pronouns, but in reality it's a rebuke of standing for anything. It's a total refusal to share a vision of a prosperous future for ordinary people. It's an abdication of responsibility. And it's why they want advocates to shut up.
