Helsinki reduced Finland's CO₂ emissions by 5% when it closed the last two coal plants in 2023 and today. The cold climate doesn't force the use of fossil fuels when we have wind power, heat storage etc.
Today, 🇫🇮's coal-power era all but ends—4 years ahead of schedule—with the closure of Helsinki’s Salmisaari coal plant.
Wind power has surged since 2020 and now provides 1/4 of Finland’s electricity, pushing coal and fossil gas’ combined share down to just 1.6%.

Kun eduskunta haluaa kansalaisaloitteen etenevän mutta hallitus ei halua, niin seuraavaksi eduskunta voi esittää välikysymyksen ja äänestää hallitukselle epäluottamusta. Pysyvätkö hallituspuolueiden edustajat Orpon tukena, vai onko kansalaisaloitteilla merkitystä?

An update since the 2019 zero fatalities for pedestrians: the average per year is now 1 in Oslo and 2 in Helsinki. So we are not there yet, and serious injuries matter too. #VisionZero
