Pin thing.

Whatever you followed me for, you're probably not going to get much of it. Imagine finding a message in a bottle at the beach, but it's actually a pile of crumpled, self-addressed post-it notes with idiolectal abbreviations.

the more the world stresses
my ability to refrain
A lot of people on here are gonna need to learn to shut the fuck up rather than rushing to either clutch their pearls or post felonies publicly when, inevitably, an ICE agent eventually takes a shot at the wrong car and somebody shoots back

The semi local weirdness here is someone has a rollercoaster in their backyard. It looks sized for a large dog or small human and I've never seen it running, but.
in the midst of everything awful, i love that southside weirdness is causing confusion

i remember when the computer still demanded blood. my dad's Tandy took a mere pinprick from your finger, which was a revolutionary advancement from the bulky machines of the 80's that required a thimbleful to access usenet for a day. that itself was an improvement on the pint needed to join ARPANET
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

Dunno what the original was but getting a lot of petty glee out of the responses.
It’s true, I don’t know about plain text files. 🤣 lmao, the Techier Than Thou neckbeards get defensive any time you explain that the human aspects matter more than the technical ones, and retreat to trying to condescend about minutia.

Last bagel molded, but unlike the usual white fuzz, this was orange in the middle with a black-ish ring? Interesting.

"An elder is someone who is older than olive trees" is about asking why does the Israeli state harm olive trees, and reflecting on how I came to loathe state borders as someone who grew up in Lebanon to a Palestinian grandfather -- plus my love of trains.

WOMEN are doing the vast majority of the front-line organizing against ICE, the vast majority of the front-line reporting, the vast majority of the legal observing, the vast majority of the care work, the vast majority of the corking and safety volunteering. It's so often women who are being killed.
Renee Good, who was murdered in cold blood today by ICE, was a queer woman. June "T-Rex" Knightly, who was murdered in Portland, was a queer woman. The ICE detainees who were sexually assaulted in Louisiana are queer women and trans men.

At the South Louisiana Ice Processing Center in Basile, detainees say they were forced into hard labor – and sexually assaulted and stalked by an assistant warden

As a rule I'm nuanced on how media affects public perception

Police procedurals make us think law enforcement officers are better than they are and normalize the extrajudicial killings of ordinary people.

I think we should stop making them. And for that to happen you should stop watching them.

Police procedurals help normalize this FYI
I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

This was a running thread if you followed the BLM movement, that many police shootings of Americans are followed by said police not allowing the victim to receive medical care, and in a number of cause celebre cases observers believed they would have survived if medical help had not been obstructed.
"A doctor at the scene attempted to help the woman who was shot, but was kept away by federal agents. When an ambulance finally arrived, it was blocked from reaching her by law-enforcement vehicles, and paramedics had to reach her on foot. The woman has died." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

It is hard to get people to remember that ICE before this crisis was whipping migrants from horseback as they tried crossing a river where ICE set up actual saw blades meant to eviscerate anyone swept downstream.

They were always this deadly, depraved, violent.

Nobody makes it plain to us in school, but Global Warming is entirely the fault of white people and their insistence on expansion, extraction, and capitalism.
As one First Nations person put it, in Australia, the Murray-Darling basin was fine for 60,000 years of First Nations management; it took Europeans 200 years to destroy it
I'll never forget learning that part of the reason white people had to keep expanding west is because they ruined the soil
