wind waker also came out in the height of "Nintendo is making their games KIDDY and not MATURE like ME I should be able to shoot Shigeru Miyamoto with a GUN for making Zelda for KIDS" era of the internet
WW style holds up amazingly well but it had the absolute worse PR team behind it, compare the teasers for both games and its literally night and day
