I just saw an ad for a human-made Fiverr service that flat shits on AI by making a clearly AI voice say 'Sure here's a resume to make you stand out, just like the 30000 others I've made today, good luck'.

And Fiverr saying 'Work with *human* resume experts!'

...

Yeeeeessssss.

Me: Games are an incredibly powerful medium to convey how to have healthier adult relationships and stop shying away from sex which can improve life for everyone.
American fascism: Sex education is a tool of progression. Destroy it.
Me: THE TIMING.

Hi. Hey. Hello.

Yeah.

Fascism. This is happening.

America. Can you... can you stop this please.
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

Gonna highlight some quotes from the actual paper here because they hit so fucking hard and because they highlight the ways that Epistemic Exploitation serves to maintain the oppressive status quo. Privileged people preserve existing inequalities by denying the lived experiences of oppressed people.

I have absolutely zero time, tolerance, or inclination to entertain transphobia, transphobic comments, or transphobic sentiment.

I will not 'hear it out'. I will not entertain it. I will not, in any way, do anything more than use it as a vector to decide who I no longer want to associate with.

Trillion.

TRILLION.

"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Whose judgement? Because my Rogue Trader ship had a few... issues.
Which fictional spaceship do we think had the most HR violations?

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Every game has narrative.

I've never written an academic paper before.

I probably shouldn't make my first one a 'you're doing it wrong' paper...

The existential dread of writing an academic paper and paranoidly wondering if someone else has written it...

Another rant. But this distills another thing I want to emphasise. People who use AI to 'create' aren't creatives. They just aren't. Because creatives don't want to use AI. They want to do it. They *want* to do it.

These people don't.

This is actually an excellent distinction in different levels of narrative design, and the fact that in games, it is a highly nuanced and varied approach. I could talk about this FOREVER, but 'narrative design' is so, so, SO misused and misunderstood in games.
Seeing other narrative design people say that Clair Obscur had a bad 3rd act or bad ending(s)…I just can’t follow you there man. That shit ruled. Sorry. You break the combat wide fucking open and then get your choice of doing genocide or walking toward Omelas and saying “torturing that child rocks”

Fuck I really need to write something about how the work indie games have to do to get funding makes them incredibly equipped to make excellent games, and how AAA developers are so fucking far behind the ball in comparison.

And the folks who are actually writing full-time generally only got there after years of day jobs, family support, or both.

The point of sharing this is not to demoralize anyone, but to let emerging writers know they're not failing if they can't make a living off writing alone. Almost no one can.
almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

Desperately want a response game where it's some absolutely normal woman charged with finding her negligent bullshit adventurer husband in the warzone/forest/swamp/spy thriller/ post apocalypse because he's in FUCKING TROUBLE.

Hi folk. A bit of a thing. Can you forward me any articles or news on AI in games being rejected by the community so we can wave it in front of upper management in education that Gen AI is not the future of games?
