Tall. Bearded. Nerdy.
Ran into this lady (who was a child at the time) in 2005 in the Houston airport: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanda_...

Only reason I recognized her was bc we’d seen this doco in IMAX at the Bullock museum in Austin, TX the day before: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurrica...
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

The #1 movie when you were 10 is how your 2026 is going to go. This seems optimistic.

Hot take: Ep. 3 is as good as Rogue One, and both are better than anything else produced after 1983.

Empire Strikes Back is a runaway winner

After the original 3, only Rogue One joins its ranks

Opening night of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. For years I labored under the incorrect assumption that it was a good movie just because of the experience of first seeing it in a packed theater.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

@willsmith.fun Hey Will, do you have a recommendation for a 4-bay home NAS? I’m currently running a 10yo PC as my file/media server but would like to get something quieter/more efficient. Thanks!

Man fuuuuuck this. I hate that guy. I mean, if the choice is him or the Hitler Youth that’s there now, maybe I start to waiver. But I’d really rather not have to hold my nose when rooting for my team.

I made this.

I think Chuck Finley might be my cutoff. If you’re better than Chuck, you belong in the Hall.

@dszymborski.fangraphs.com Not sure if this is your bailiwick, but is there a reason I’m not able to see the WAR column for the World Series on the leaderboard? I saw someone else sharing a screen cap that had values there, but it was a Twitter rando so they may have been making up stuff.

I, a lifelong Dodger fan, enjoyed that series.

While I appreciate that Fox didn’t put Pierzinski and Wainwright on the Cubs series, would it have been too much to ask to put them on Yankees/Jays series so I could avoid them entirely?

@enosarris.bsky.social @dbrim.com I’ve been hunting around on Savant trying to figure out the exact height of the pitch from the ground, but I can’t seem to find it. Am I just imagining that they used to have that data?
These graphics are apparently not batter height adjusted which raises the question: why draw a box in the first place when the box is meaningless?

@mikepetriello.bsky.social Hey Mike, is there a place in Savant where I could see the height of the pitch Bogaerts K’d on vs. Keller last night? I’m having a hard time finding the XY coordinates. Thanks!

I met David Forst at a Baseball Prospectus meet & greet at the Coliseum about 13 years ago. It’s shocking how much the time and (probably) the job has aged him.

I hate the Marquee scorebug. They don’t put the batter’s name on it until a pitch has been thrown, and then take it away as soon as he makes contact. Minimum 3 times a game I look up to see who got a hit and it’s already gone. Nobody else has this issue. How do you fail at such a basic thing?

Preller is just addicted to the rush of trading someone. You go to his house and his dog is now a couple of lemurs. His Mercedes is gone and he has four mid-2000s Corollas and a John Deer tractor. His wife is a Jewish guy named Abe and his kids are the Somali pirate from the meme.
The reactions to Shohei leaving his start early last night were telling. The Padres went, “Fuck it. They are ripe to be beaten let’s go for it.” The Cubs went, “Our plan to trade middling prospects for half assed pitchers might work!”
