Have been thinking/reading about this a lot this year. Reconstruction was the most far-reaching reform period in U.S. history, and was driven largely by state legislatures. Postbellum state lawmakers built public health and public school systems for the first time; many banned corporate welfare.
Let’s get the second Reconstruction right.
