Trump saves world from brink of disaster he created by creating smaller disaster that’s also extremely damaging and unnecessary. It’s the Trump way. The art of the schlemiel.

The arrest of Mayor Ras Baraka without cause is a wake-up call for all of us. We must recognize the danger of Trump's authoritarian tactics and stand together to fight back against his attacks on democracy and human rights.

Speak out against this blatant attempt at intimidation.

In the many cases where a 50% tariff, for example, would already result in zero trade, an 80% tariff would be indistinguishable from a 145% one.

So there’s a lot of room for symbolic but substance-free reductions—and it’s a journalist’s job to make clear what substantively happens.
Team Trump is heading into weekend China talks seeking a deescalation and mulling a dramatic cut in tariffs.

The issue: Tariffs are so high at 145%+ that even after massive cut they would be astronomical.

Public Service Announcement 📣 If you want to vote by mail in a Florida election this year then you need to request mail in ballots all over again. The Florida legislature passed a law that cancels all requests for mail ballots after the general election. So get on that too please. 🗳️ #votesky #beans

My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.
