I had been lurking on my old Twitter account, but I got fully logged out recently and without any access to context these dispatches are bewildering. Not that it makes a ton of sense in context but it helps a little to know who it is doing the beefing.
Just popped over to Twitter and they're deep into a fight over "Heritage Americans" and if it's acceptable to gesture vaguely at one of your 512 ancestors or you have account for all of your greatx7 grandparents or if the designation is based on whether your last name sounds anglo enough

This essay by the author of a recent well-reviewed book about Tolkien starts modestly and then stabs you with a Morgul-blade halfway through, where you are pinioned by a twist in the telling. You may never recover. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/19/o...

If you make a synth jam that you really like with presets, do you have a moral obligation to redo it with your own programmed sounds?

I'm not sure if I watched the last two episodes of The Chair Company or if I fell asleep and had a nightmare about watching the last two episodes of The Chair Company.

Chavarria, a U.S. citizen, was held at the airport "for more than four hours and released only after he finally agreed to let the agents search his smartphone, tablet, and laptop computer. The agents...informed him that he had no Fourth Amendment right to resist." @pacificlegal.bsky.social is suing.
CBP agents held this U.S. citizen for hours until he agreed to let them search his electronic devices

I used to really like the aesthetics of songs and poems about sad middle-aged men grieving their lost youth and sundry failures. Conceptual delectation isn't so easy now, huh?

“If revival is possible, let alone underway, it confronts mainline Christians with the limits of our own understanding. We have been identified so closely with decline for so long that it has become a weight-bearing part of our self-image.”

If I were a billionaire I wouldn't melt my mind on social media. I'd divide my days between walking around a beautiful mountain lake, stopping when I like to read or jot down notes, and recording music in a decently outfitted but not crazy extravagant home studio.

Here’s a story for every national news outlet:

In N.C., churchgoers are literally running into the woods as federal agents descend on the property.

“Inside the church, women and children sobbed as they wondered whether their loved ones had been taken.”

I see the choices for Dems as:

1. Hold out until the Republicans kill the filibuster and then watch as reams of Trumpist legislation fly through Congress.
2. Back down and look weaker, but also stave off some disasters.

The political calculus is too complicated for me to have a take.
