Some of my fellow Jews think a college kid wearing a kaffiyeh is a greater threat to their personal safety than an authoritarian government rounding up people to send to torture camps and the world's richest man who made a Nazi AI, and I'm really not sure what to say to them anymore.

I am at the stage of my final semester job hunt where I think of job applications as ritual offerings to the Jorb

I don't know if it'll necessarily work, but goodness knows I'm trying to put my impending Statistics MS to use

Just an FYI: Medicaid fraud is rarely perpetrated by beneficiaries. The fraudsters are almost always the doctors and CEO's that administer Medicaid. For example: when a doctor charges the government $600 for an $8 breast pump and pockets the cash and the third party administrator takes a cut.

One of the most important lessons that my students learn at CMU is this: you are a smart person, but there are a lot of smart people. And even people who aren't as smart as you can teach you important things.

This is one of lessons that "geniuses who dropped out of college" often miss

I'm heartened that there's a presence of left leaning Arkansans on Bluesky.

I mean, I know they exist because I've got family up there and I was born there, but still.

Do you ever just try to come up with a set of notes with Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force because the students you instruct didn't understand the formal version of what you tried to teach them the first time?

Pay close attention to the celebrities & politicians who're instantly pivoting towards throwing trans folk under the bus or casually suggest ignoring marginalized plights. They never cared about you -- they care about power, who has it, how *they* benefit, and how they can be seen in parallel to it.
