I’ve done some catalogue searching and am fairly confident in saying that 5/10 titles in this list do not exist (1, 2, 4, 5 and 7).
Sloppy, unacceptable, and a real kick in the guts to real authors with real books they’d love people to buy and read!

This is a great example of how genAI steals from us all on multiple levels. It's stolen a promotional spot for real books and authors, it's stolen a job from an actual journalist who could have compiled this, it's stolen an opportunity for parents to be recommended good NZ books for their kids

It's derived from my IG handle laserkereru which itself was a play on the laser kiwi thing since kererū are one of my favourite birds, I am ungifted at creating great usernames, and I often see them inverted while feeding near my house as in the pic 🙂
