Thinking about making a writing prompt for my students around “handheld meat pies”
* New Zealand takes pies (namely, handheld meat pies) so seriously that there are National Pie Awards that get major media coverage. The New Zealand National Library has a whole dedicated category for “Pies — Competitions.”

I’m going to a board meeting in person this morning so instead of my hermit-writer-goblin clothes I put on a nice frock.

Ha ha! Past me said, I shall write a novel without chapters and that is composed of fragments that are layered non-chronologically nor linearly. Which is all well and good until present me is looking for where I last left off and am now lost in the manuscript, having lost the ball of thread ages ago

This *was* a good reminder! Booster booked, ngā mihi @writagal.bsky.social
With Christmas parties coming up and Ariana Grande in the news for getting Covid during the press tour for Wicked, semi-regular reminder Covid is still a thing and you might want to get a booster, plan for open/ventilated spaces, ask for testing/test yourself, and stock up on those antihistamines.

What I've been noticing lately in convos with students is that they *despise* the AI-slopification of everything as much or even more than I do. And yet our universities & their admin seem to believe that students for some reason want it integrated into everything. THEY DON'T.
“To be sat there with this material in front of you that is just really not worth anyone’s time, when you could be spending that time actually engaging with something worthwhile, is really frustrating,” he said.

Just got back from the doctor's. The bad news is that tests have revealed I have Onomatopoeia.
Naturally concerned, I asked, 'What's that?'
'I'm afraid,' he replied, looking up from his notes with a serious expression. 'It's exactly what it sounds like.'

The thing that makes me possibly the maddest is when adults have their bullshit moral panic bigotry about whatever issue and they start going after children first. They do it with fat kids, and brown kids, and trans kids. You exploitative harmful assholes, pick on someone your own size
