I’m with @rsmythfreelance.bsky.social here on his wet blanket. Writers who try to render accents phonetically assume everyone reading speaks the same way they do – frequently RP. It’s extremely distracting to read on a page, often comes across as patronising and snobbish, and is sometimes baffling.
To spread my wet blanket a bit wider... This is why the rendering of accents in fiction is such a problem. Written English isn't phonetic - which means, wonderfully, that it belongs to all of us. It's one of our few universalities. And when you do stuff like this, you're surrendering it all to RP.

I believe Gary Lineker that it was a mistake, I think he's a genuinely decent and conscientious person. That said, it should be possible to criticise the actions of Israel, demonstrably evil as they are, without promoting those who do so with reference to racist tropes.

It is absolutely fucking bonkers that Trump won more of the vote than he ever had less than half a year ago and now he is less popular than he’s ever been, all on the strength of shit he was promising loudly to do when people elected him.
Let's wake up. He's REALLY unpopular for this early in a term or really ever. President's this unpopular are already losing. Power becomes harder to assert when your power is fading.
