Don't cede an inch to people like this. No Palestinian deserves to have their homes, families, and lives obliterated by Israeli bombs. No Jewish person deserves to be gunned down at a Hanukkah celebration 8000 miles away. These are both true statements.
Australians found my post about this being a shitty Hanukkah and are now informing that if I personally ask Netanyahu (who will listen to me) to stop committing genocide against Palestinians, then random Jews around the world won't be shot anymore.

The problem with saying "why can't you defer to Jews about x chant" is that a characteristic feature of Israel/Palestine discourse is competing standpoint-based claims of harm. You can pick a side if you like but then you're not really relying on a neutral deference principle.

Everyone knows about Ahmed al-Ahmad, the Syrian Muslim migrant who took down one gunman. Another man, a Middle Eastern refugee, ran into a firefight and kicked the gun away from the other gunman. If there were specialy designated drug trafficking routes it would be a bad idea for drug traffickers to use them.
they keep emphasizing that these are on "known narcotrafficking routes" and like, those are just route-routes. there are not special ocean highways for drugs.
I'm not sure if people realize the murder strikes are taking place across a large region. It's quite staggering.

Anti-racism norms matter. Really shouldn’t be too much to ask of a Labour government that they shun those giving platform to overt racism of a kind that has been unacceptable in the political mainstream of this country for generations.
There were 2 Labour Cabinet Ministers last week on TalkTV Harry Cole slot which plans to invite back an overt racist who'd ban the Home Secretary, Lord Chancellor, Leader of the Opposition & Deputy Speaker from parliament & all blacks, Asians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims & Sikhs from the civil service!

I genuinely affirmatively think that it is now a democratic imperative to spend as much time as you can offline. Read more offline. Socialise more offline. Discuss media you consume with other people offline. Out there is a real world full of people looking for real human connection - seize it
Reading a bunch of books this year has really solidified for me how awful the internet is in comparison nowadays. Obviously in terms of general hostility but more generally in terms of lack of depth, insight, reading comprehension, base of knowledge, etc
