What if the true meaning of Christmas is supporting small businesses so the oligarchs have a very shitty season?

When it comes to art, try and keep indie artists in mind. I assure you, everyone who pushes their own work will breathe a lot easier seeing their numbers raise during these times.
If you're buying gifts for the holidays, maybe consider supporting artists, writers, creators. Gift someone a Patreon, commission an art piece, buy a book, purchase handmade jewelry, etc. Your support means everything.

I woke up to see that my story “Two Sizes Too Small” is up on @gavagai.com !! I loved writing this one, as it’s inspired by my day to day experience with OCD. I really hope you’ll give it a read, and let me know what you think!

THIS!
I was screaming about this offline the other day regarding Wendy Carlos and how I'd never even heard of her for YEARS in the synth and techno world.
Alternative subculture spaces are laden with women and queer people who were integral to the establishment and development of their scene (DJs, photographers, writers, etc.), yet they’re always ignored in favor of the male musicians. Livid beyond belief.

Occasionally, I discover a random fact that could birth a decent metaphor or story.

Today's fact for my writer friends: The largest organism on Earth is Pando, an 80,000-yr-old, 106-acre, Aspen grove connected by a single root system. Each tree is unique, yet a clone.

What metaphors do you see?

I am incapable of not talking about the ongoing print campaign for BOOM goes the Bride. We are $210 CAD away from a conventional cover, meaning the experts will mix the inks by hand to capture these beautiful neon hues. That's only a handful of squeaky american nickels!

My queer dark fantasy series WIP, The Art of Malignance [18+], is available to read on Ao3!
Includes moral ambiguity, rich internal conflict, necromancy, and several queer MCs trying to survive in a world that's slowly falling apart around them.

I do have writing announcements, some very cool stuff upcoming which I can’t yet, but I will be speaking on very soon. Outside of writing, my band is about to release a single from an upcoming sophomore LP 🖤

Funnily enough, I’m dealing with a bit of writer’s block with my novel atm. But then, I’m certain it will pass in its due time, I’d rather let it cool off than spend hours with another blank page for nothing to come out in the end, haha. I’ll stick to short stories for a bit. 🤍

Q5: Time for a status update! How is your #FirstDraftFall project going? Are you struggling with anything we might be able to help with? #WeeknightWriters

I promise you, this is not the end of your life or your career, it will pass. Take care of yourself and do something that makes you happy! 🖤

#WeeknightWriters
Q4: What advice would you give to someone dealing with writer’s block? #WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall
November 21, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Just trying something different does wonders, sometimes not even within the writing itself. I’ve taken roadtrips with friends or gone out to punk shows amid a bad writing season only to find that was all I needed for the inspiration to kick in again:)

#WeeknightWriters
Q3: What helped you get out of writer’s block? Is this a strategy you’ve used consistently, or do you need to take a different approach every time? #WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall
November 21, 2025 at 1:15 AM
It can feel hopeless at first. I feel confident in saying being a writer is inherently to be dramatic, so when one feels their craft slip away from their fingers it can certainly seem like the end of the world. It’s kind of funny in hindsight, not at all during the block itself.
#WeeknightWriters
Q2: If you’ve experienced writer’s block - during #FirstDraftFall or generally - what did it feel like? #WeeknightWriters
November 21, 2025 at 12:50 AM
I wholeheartedly believe in it—it’s been hard work, but I’ve come to appreciate it as a wakeup call when I’m being too harsh on myself, since it tends to come from either exhaustion or some other form of self-neglect on my part.
#WeeknightWriters
Q1: Do you believe in writer’s block? If so, have you experienced it - either during #FirstDraftFall or when working on other projects? #WeeknightWriters
