I keep seeing folks say “gamers hating AI” are going to cause the pendulum to swing back hard and people will end up loving AI.

My conspiracy theory about genAI in games blowing up more and more by big companies is that they’ve all got a ton of investors insisting they use genAI tools otherwise they(investors) won’t be able to bankroll em anymore

I'm glad Sandfall finally explained the AI generated textures in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
I really, really wish they hadn't waited for 8 months to do so, and may not have done so at all if the IGA's hadn't pulled their GotY award. That level of silence speaks volumes.

Using genAI for any part of dev is already a hard no for me but using it for concept art and storyboarding makes the LEAST sense imho.
This is literally internal art. It doesnt have to be pretty and marketable, it has to get an idea across. You can use stick figures at that stage until polish time.
