I like to say I respect despair as an emotion but not an analysis. As an analysis it assumes we know what can and can't happen, and the future is both uncertain and at least to some extent what we make of it. www.newstatesman.com/environment/...
Why climate despair is a luxury
Those facing flood and fire can’t afford to lose hope. Neither should we.

Agrivoltaics combines PVs w/ farming practices. Both benefit from this mutualism. Plants get shade while PVs are cooled by evapotranspiration, increasing efficiency. Works well w/ sheep grazing pasture below panels. But goats - not so much - they jump on panels! www.pv-magazine.com/2024/11/29/a...

@cominsitu.bsky.social examines our strategies for protecting nature and makes the case that new legal rights or norms are not enough - and only by transforming property relations can we stop nature’s destruction
“Unlike a workplace, nature cannot simply be seized by its employees & run under democratic self-management ... it is not just another factor of production... it is the condition & limit of our existence.”

TIL I’ve been unintentionally contributing to the conservation of the Amazon forests with my Brazil nut addiction
Brazil nuts, almost unique in our food supply, are not domesticated, but are collected in the wilds of the Amazon forest. Communities of indigenous nut harvesters maintain intact forests necessary for the trees. When you eat Brazil nuts, you are contributing to the conservation of Amazon forests. 🌏
