Cover art:

Book cover art for Name Her Holy by Aubrey Ennis. The cover has two women standing against a starry twilight background with a pale sun. At the forefront Kye stands facing forward, one hand held up with a cold flame and billowing black smoke. She is wearing dark purple robes with a high color and gold accents. She has dark wavy brown hair that comes to her chin, tan skin covered in light scars, and pale gray eyes. Behind her Jude stands in profile, a head taller than Kye. She is in leather armor stamped with meadow floral designs, holding a golden sword etched with light oak leaves. Jude is white, has long auburn hair in a braid with an undercut at the sides. She has a long scar across her nose and freckles on her cheeks. The sun rises behind her. A border of flowers and stars creates an arch above them with a deep purple background.

I wrote a dragon age bard song just call me Maryden 😂
I am in so deep now I fear
What do you hear when no one's around you?
I want to know what puts light in your eyes
But you say that nothing's about you.
The world moves around you like ghosts in the night.

You're in the fire's ash
That warmed us through cold winter's darkness and pain.
Now a songbird echoes back.
You linger like petrichor after the rain.

Shadows are friends now that they contain you,
There to sow comfort when everything's wrong.
Still you say that nothing's about you.
Well too bad my friend because now there's a song.

Please don't wash away.
The hush of your voice is the wind in the leaves.
Our bond won't fade away
If you let me keep you in my memories.

All that you flew from needn't be frightful
If you can see it with light in your eyes
How can you say that nothing's about you?
You keep our hearts strong as we hold up the sky.

Awaiting the opportune moment to see a certain Sheltri prisoner for themselves.

- Brother’s Keeper, book one of my fantasy WIP about two brothers linked by a misunderstood power.
The jailer padded up behind them, panting. "I tell ye, ye've made a mistake. The dead one may be a spy; I wouldn't know. But this I do know: [Brother Redacted] himself is in the dungeon. If ye'd heard the music, ye'd know."
They stopped. Ransom's brow creased. "Don't
be ridiculous." He glanced at Rochat. The strident bawling of Cirdaathan bagpipes interrupted them.

"The song of warning," Ransom said. "The Sheltri have come after all. Mark me, the city will shake again, and this time, the gates will open."

Rochat grimaced. "The king will drive the
Rhursans off today, and the cursed Elves. Nothing will break this city. I'm for the ramparts, and let the prisoners rot." Rochat spun and made for the stairs, Rey following, as men called and scrambled to arms.

Farrowlin glanced in the direction Rochat had
gone, then shrugged at Ransom. "He's gone, my lord. We'll never have a better chance."

My next book, The Need for Dandelions, is coming out March 31, 2026! Stay tuned for the cover reveal later this month!
The Need for Dandelions is a MM Fantasy Romance set in a city facing a crisis.
Over a background of bright yellow dandelions, a pink box reads:
The Need for Dandelions: A new fantasy romance novel by Alex Larkspur
Releasing March 31, 2026
Cover Reveal October 24, 2025

The image in the center is a very blurry book cover Over a picture of a medieval style building, a pink box reads:
Galen did not need someone to protect him in the Candiru Quarter. He simply did not. He was a devotee of the Lady of Flowers and he knew that he was perfectly safe in Candiru Quarter. However, the governor of Dragonet City has decided that every healer working in the city needed to have a guard with them to protect them in the dangerous streets, especially in Candiru Quarter.

Sasha did not want this posting. The last thing in the world that he wanted to do was follow around a devotee of the Lady of Flowers, a god that he hates. But because of his own horrible track record, he is stuck guarding Brother Galen. He hates every single moment of it.

Galen and Sasha clash immediately, and everything seems to be doomed to end in catastrophe. One night changes all of that. When a strange new disease emerges in the center of Candiru quarter, it forces the two men to confront each other and themselves. Only then can they work to discover the origin of the sickness and save Dragonet City, as well as each other.

I got yer dungeon vibes right here!

From Book 1 of my #Atlantis trilogy.
The prisoner was being held in a dark cell on the second floor of the king’s prison, a dank, depressing maze built deep into the mountain, hidden among the palace’s sprawling complex. She was relatively young—eighteen, perhaps twenty at most. Her hair was oily and tangled, her skin bruised and filthy. She sat cross-legged on the ground with shackles on her arms and legs, and Mireia noticed with a shock that she had six fingers on each hand. When they entered her cell, she looked up, and her face brightened with an unnerving smile. Although Mireia’s memory of [Mr Redacted] was fuzzy, she could tell the woman’s features bore a strong resemblance to his. And there was something odd about her eyes, too: an eerie lack of focus, as if she was seeing something beyond what was directly in front of her.
“The Sea Mother has deigned to come and visit you, traitor,” said the High Priestess. “Show her the proper respect and bow.”
“I only bow to the true Sea Mother. And she is not here.”
“I don’t suppose you’d care to tell us where Jasana is?” Xa’aba asked.
The prisoner grinned. “Why don’t you ask the little impostor? I believe she spoke to her very recently. Didn’t you, seda?”

"Alas, we'll both have to settle for your terms previously discussed, unless you'd prefer to move this back into my dungeon."
"Oh, don't threaten me with a good time." Robyn downed her glass and gestured for more.

As luck would have it, I actually did write this yesterday purely coinkidinkally. Tomorrows … well, shoehorning may be required …

From ‘The Big Feat’.

#WiPSnips
This house, that sat at the very outskirts of the city, surrounded by plush, well-tended gardens currently hosting a party filled with the cream of certain members of the population whose business dealings were, to say the least, controversial, walked a very fine line between opulence and vulgarity, elegance and gaudy, like a tightrope walker five hundred feet above a gorge praying to every god he can name that his confidence in his abilities hadn’t outstripped his actual skill. A lot of gold decorated the furnishings, but not quite enough to cause raised, disparaging eyebrows. Statuary and portraits lined the walls, but not quite enough to seem cluttered and overwrought.

Salvarino Manacuso had never visited this house before and would likely never visit again. At least, not as a treasured guest and probably not without several burly men in ill-fitting, extremely tight but miraculously tailored clothing escorting him by the elbows and kindly not letting his feet touch the ground until he had reached the dungeons below that, as far as anyone could prove, did not exist. Nervous, as he well should be, he smiled at the man sat at the desk so large, shipyards were envious of the amount of wood used to create it. The desk had to be large, it competed with the girth of the man who held court behind it.

Something a wee bit different today - back almost twenty years ago, and the build-up to the Revolution (which, in a lot of ways, sets the scene for a whole lot of what happens in Argentum)

( saranadosfiction.com/2023/09/07/p... )
Then, in the midst of it all, the rumours start. Crops failing. Catches drying up, as the fish make for cooler waters further north. Rationing. Famine. The normal stockpiles against such disasters ran dry years ago, goods sold abroad for coin which never seemed to make it out of the hands of the Usurper (whisper that name, for folks have been dragged away to the dungeons beneath the palace for speaking it openly) and into places it might benefit the rest of the city’s inhabitants, and there’re stories already spreading that the man who holds the power behind the puppet queen’s throne would be all too happy to see the ungrateful populace starve a little as a reminder of their place and station.

The whispers don’t go unnoticed, of course. Posters go up on every street corner, decrying those who spread lies and slander as enemies of the state, and requesting that all loyal citizens report any such claims to their nearest Watch officer (the majority of troopers on the street, overworked and underpaid, do their best not to hear the few who obey this instruction, but there’s only so much they can do without risking their own necks, and yet more people join those already sweltering in the cells).

And then, as summer turns and the harvest begins, the rumours become all-too-solid fact.

Prices rise. Stores run dry. The city, baking in the blistering sun, slowly begins to shimmer with the growing heat-haze of rebellion.

And, out on the windswept sun-drenched plains of Efir, a band of mercenaries saddles up for the long ride north.

#WIPSnips Dungeon. I was in a mental dungeon for 17 hours yesterday working through a work issue. Anyway.

Ethgar the Paladin recounts some of his experiences in the enemy stronghold.

Text in the alt.

#WritingCommunity #Writesky
“There is a dungeon deep underneath the castle’s deepest fortifications. I saw, well, everyone. There were dwarves, humans, all manner of canine, feline, those of both Kyi and Aru-til Phandra, all shackled and in the process of dying or outright dead. I may have seen an elf as well, dead, my heart wept for them especially. I realized then we were all enemies of the Krale. Human Paladins against human soldiers of Krale, Damion against Tyrinal. I was hesitant at first to welcome him as an ally, but after being shackled in the same cell for a few days we began to share our stories,” Ethgar explained.

"It's perfectly safe to have dinner with them," Dad said. "They're vampires."

According to him, vampires were nothing like the fiction books we'd all read. Those stories were apparently a giant PR campaign by the vampires themselves to get humans to leave them alone.

I get that.

I'm finding a low-key theme in my works is how much it would suck to be the protagonist of a story.
Her teeth chattered, and she tried not to look at the various weapons on display. A part of her still hoped this was a bad dream. She wanted to believe she would wake up safe in her own bed, content with the knowledge she was just a regular person and nothing interesting or noteworthy would ever happen to her. Normal people don’t wind up kidnapped and put in a murder dungeon. That only happened in scary stories.

The perfect encapsulation of the relationship between Kip and Byron 😂

From Poe's arc of The Atlas Brothers Break the Multiverse

#WIPSnips #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #AmWriting
“You can let go of the rope,” Kip called down. “I’m going to untie it from up here so we don’t leave it on the roof.”
“I didn’t approve that!” Byron called back up. “Come down the safe way, Kip!”
But the rope fell from above to coil at Poe’s feet then.
“Oops, sorry!” Kip said with a completely unrepentant grin. “Guess I’ll have to come down my way after all. Can everyone get inside? Don’t want anyone in the way.”
“Never listens to a word I say,” Byron grumbled.

safe ✨vibes✨ via a big comfy sweater.

From the short story prequel to my cryptid WIP.

The origin of MC Sam's affinity for 70s clothing, particularly the baggy stuff.

#WIPSnips #TheCryptidOfSunnyside #WriteSky
"And put that sweater back before Greg gets home!" she calls after me. I quickly dart into Miss Mary and Mr. Greg's room, peeling off Mr. Greg's sweater and draping it over the back of his creaky wooden desk chair. He wears sweaters every day; they're big and baggy and brown, and they've been around for longer than I've been alive. I'm not supposed to take them to wear, but I like that they're warm, and I like the texture of them, and I like that they make me feel kind of hidden, like instead of Sam, I'm just a sweater. I could be anything, under a big sweater like this. I could even be some kind of fantastical creature like the Bug Man.
